On Sunday evening, January 18, 2026, Lovers Talk unfolded at Meier St/ in Mar Vista, Los Angeles, bringing together painting, sound, architecture, and ritual in an immersive, sensory experience. The evening marked a collaborative moment between artist Sara Marlowe Hall, musician Matthew Zuk (Zuk Zuk), and the domestic setting of a historic Gregory Ain house.
As dusk settled and the sky deepened to blue, guests moved through the space surrounded by Hall’s Embers paintings while Zuk performed a live set responsive to both the artworks and the architecture of the house. The performance activated each room, allowing sound and painting to shift in relation to movement, listening, and presence.
Engaging all senses, the evening also included the pouring of homemade Japanese tea by Shingo, offered throughout the night to encourage slowness, attentiveness, and shared experience. Fallen leaves underfoot, music in motion, and the intimacy of the home shaped an atmosphere of quiet reflection and connection.
Founded by Takashi Yanai, Meier St/—located within one of the 52 historic Gregory Ain homes built in 1948—continues to serve as a site for artistic exchange, community gathering, and thoughtful dialogue. Lovers Talk exemplified Meier St/’s ongoing commitment to collaboration, experimentation, and creating space for collective experience.
